Rock On Cards and Gifts was launched at the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) annual tradeshow in January 2006. The product line—designed specifically for athletes, coaches, and outdoor enthusiasts—currently includes more than 250 greeting cards, 40+ posters, T-shirts, and apparel. The design is simple: crisp black and white photography coupled with motivational quotations. The cards are printed on a high gloss card stock without an inside greeting, allowing the consumer to choose the message for the card—congratulations, happy birthday, encouragement, graduation, happy holidays or thank you.
The collections include traditional team sports, as well as individual sports such as biking, running, mountain adventure/backpacking, paddling, and golf.
The business is based in Raleigh, N.C., and most of the products are produced in or around the Research Triangle area.
As of January 2008, Rock On products can be found in more than 140 retail and on-line stores in 27 states. In addition, Rock On creates and publishes special collections for school systems, universities, and businesses. For Holiday 2006, Rock On was proud to produce a special collection of Notre Dame greeting cards and posters, as well as a 2007 calendar for Blue and Gold Illustrated of South Bend, Ind.
Founders Carol and Jeff Sanders-life--long sports and outdoor enthusiasts--are excited to be creating a niche in a marketplace void of similar products. Each year, the Sanders plan to release 100+ new greeting cards, 20 new posters and additional products based on desires and requests from consumers.
Locations: The product offerings are unique to each retailer. Some may offer a simple 20-slot rack of cards, while others may carry the cards, posters, and T-shirts.
